Evaluation!

Overall, I think I have succeeded at all of my set tasks and am proud of myself for catching up and meeting all of the deadlines successfully. I haven't really come across many problems apart from my super thick and shiny hair so I had to re-think about models but it was no problem and took me 2 seconds which was really helpful. I didn't get that much help from my partner (the designer) and basically was given a step by step guide and that was it, which was fine because there wasn't much to the design but with my partner I went through everything with her step by step and spoke through everything; which I thought you had to do. It was a bit disappointing that I had to do it all of myself but I guess that's the way it was even though I asked to practise about 3 times. I didn't exactly like the design but I think I managed really well and did exactly what the designer wanted me to achieve which was excellent and made me feel very proud of myself as I have never done anything like this before. I have struggled with catching up to the seminar work that I have missed but was pretty much straight forward that I could easily research myself so it hasn’t been that much of a panic. If I was to do something different in the next project it would to be write a blog post after every session to extend my blog posts and not be doing them all at last rush to meet the deadline and to also write more and in depth. Overall I have enjoyed this project and have done myself proud!

My timed Assessment!

So it was finally my turn to do my assessment and I took lots of time to practise and think I did extremely well and every time I practised I got better and improved my hair style...

Practise 1

My first practise session was an absolute disaster! My models hair was too long and think and just would not hold in place, crimp right or do anything! I tried my best but changed my model...

Practise 2

Whilst I was changing models I practised on a head to see if I could do it and it worked! I followed the step by step guide and was pretty much straight forward and easy...

Final Assessment

I think my assessment was my strongest and I'm glad and proud that I have done it!! There was no trouble I just got on with it and think I succeeded at my task. Happy days!

Final Design!

Design 1 is the design that I have chosen to be my final design and give to my partner, as I am a late starter on the course I have been put in to a group of 3 so we all have to pass our designs around, but it is good because I have design especially for my own hair for it to be straight forward for me to practise and write step by steps and also be easy to break down and explain my design to my partner, I am looking forward to it! The problems that might occur are : time, because of the figure of 8 method, it will need prepping time and also the pearls in the partin. I am going to suggest using double sticky tape instead of gel or hairspray because its going all way down the hair I feel that it won't stick but my other worry is to see the tape but it is clear so hopefully it won't show up.

I have practised and wrote a step by step guide for my partner (Phoebe)...

As I was writing the step by step guide for Phoebe, we went through everything together and both had dolls heads to practise on in class so I knew that she understood every step to do and took photo's of every step just to remind her on the day. We also practised in our own time (at my flat) just to make sure she was sure and all good with every thing. I like working in partners because you can build new friendships and I think we have which is good being new to the course as everyone else has picked all their friends but our group is all open so I like that you can speak to anyone and really nice. I have enjoyed it!

We only did one side of the hair because we were time consuming but this is the front of the outcome!

My 3 Designs!

Design 1

This is my first design, I love the idea of the heart shaped Elizabethan because Alice in Wonderland is my favourite inspiring film of all time and I love that it aspires as The Queen of Hearts head. I have incorporated pearls to take it back to the Elizabethan times and the frizzing of the hair to refer more back to Queen Elizabeth. It really interests me how it all goes into together and fits in.

When I was researching Elizabethan contemporary images, this image really stood out for me and inspired me for my design but I changed it more in to Elizabethan.

Design 2!

On my second design I have stayed with the heart shaped style with frizz and padding because I love the idea but have mixed and matched the design around by using inspiration images to create ideas. I love the pearl idea and the little curl on the forhead it really looks olden.

Here is my inspiration for this design...

Design 3!

My third design is a bit plainer because I already have lots of ideas for what I want to do for my final design, I wanted to put a plait into my designs so I have, again, kept the heart shaped style with padding and frizz but added a French plait going across the forehead and just got inspiration from images such as...

Padding

These are the steps of padding the hair to make a shape or texture. I really enjoyed doing this task because I learnt something new and even though it looks difficult, it was straight forward and extremely therapeutic...

Elizabethan Modern Images - Shape of the Hair

Grace Stead's photo.

This image is the main inspiration of my Elizabethan project. I love the brightness of the red hair and how it is a Contempory image but has all the relevant Elizabethan referrals including the shaping of the hair (heart shape) and reminds me of the Queen of Hearts which has been a big inspiration in all my work that I have ever done and I think that if I can use it again it is really interesting. Also, the pearls make it more old fashioned and Elizabethan.

Frizz and Curling

Frizz

This is the steps of frizzing that I did to create a look that included padding and shaping the hair.

Curling

I didn't do a lot of curling because I already knew how to curl and wasn't there for the lesson due to changing over courses, and also didn't use any curling in any of my designs.
